Groundbreaking Ceremony

Friday, San Jacinto College held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Center for Biotechnology their Generation Park campus. The ceremony celebrated the partnership between the world-renowned National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) and San Jacinto College, as they look forward to the opening of the Center for Biotechnology in early 2025.

Following the groundbreaking, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at San Jacinto’s South Campus for the launch of their Biomanufacturing Training Program. Enrollment has begun for their new Biomanufacturing Training Program with classes starting this Fall. Once the Center for Biotechnology is constructed at Generation Park, this program and more advanced offerings will be available.



What is the Center for Biotechnology?

The state-of-the-art Center for Biotechnology will provide comprehensive, hands-on training with realistic good manufacturing practices (GMP) simulated environments and offer an associate of applied science degree in biomanufacturing technology, and shorter credentials for post-graduates, to meet workforce needs.

 

Who’s Involved?

The Center for Biotechnology will have a regional impact for the Houston economy, attracting industry investment and talent to the region, and positioning Houston as a leader in biopharma workforce development.
