BRISTOL MYERS SQUIBB CHOOSES GENERATION PARK FOR $2.3 BILLION MANUFACTURING CAMPUS ADVANCING NEXT-GENERATION MEDICINES

Global pharmaceutical leader’s investment reinforces Generation Park’s position as a leading destination for life sciences and advanced manufacturing

Bristol Myers Squibb has selected Generation Park in Houston, Texas, as the site of a new state-of-the-art multi-modal manufacturing campus, representing an approximately $2.3 billion investment that will help accelerate the delivery of next-generation medicines to patients. The project is expected to create nearly 500 skilled jobs and solidifies Generation Park’s status as a leading hub for life sciences and advanced manufacturing.

"Bristol Myers Squibb's new campus will bring more jobs, support workforce development and contribute to the long-term economic strength of Harris County,” said Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis. “Combined with the parks, trails, amenities and infrastructure that continue to shape Generation Park and the surrounding community, investments like this help create a place where residents can thrive, businesses can grow and future generations can succeed.

The 600,000-square-foot campus will produce a range of medicines, including small molecules, biologics and antibody-drug conjugates, supporting manufacturing from late-stage development through launch. Built for the future, the flexible facility is designed to evolve alongside advances in digitalization and automation, maintaining its position at the forefront of biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Following an extensive evaluation of multiple markets across the Central and Eastern United States, BMS chose Texas and Generation Park based on its life sciences workforce, world-class infrastructure, access to utilities and transportation networks, and a business environment supportive of long-term investment and growth.

The announcement marks another major milestone for Generation Park, a 4,300-acre, master planned campus purpose-built to accommodate large-scale biomanufacturing and advanced manufacturing operations with development-ready sites, strategic connectivity, curated amenities, and long-term capacity for expansion.

The decision follows Eli Lilly and Company’s announcement last year of a $6.5 billion pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Generation Park, underscoring the region’s growing momentum as a center for biopharmaceutical innovation and manufacturing. Together, these projects reflect years of coordinated effort among public and private partners to build the workforce, infrastructure, and business ecosystem needed to attract world-class life sciences companies.

A key component of this success is the region’s commitment to workforce development. In September, San Jacinto College opened its new Center for Biotechnology at its Generation Park Campus in partnership with McCord Development and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT). The facility provides hands-on biomanufacturing training in GMP-simulated environments and is designed to prepare students and industry professionals for careers in the rapidly growing biopharmaceutical sector.
